How to Report on Security and Usage

Reporting is essential to maintain robust security and a sustainable management. In this video, we will show you how we thought about making reporting easier to maintain a clean use of your environments.

Reporting Basics

Use the reporting section to find out about security issues and solve them. You can run built-in reports to find out about external users, orphaned users, custom permissions, anonymous access, explicit permissions, and so on. Simply choose the report you want to run, and select the scope.

It is always possible to modify these reports to make them fit your particular needs.

You can also create your own reports to find out about sites or Office 365 groups that were created last week, for example. As for all reports, you can schedule them to run automatically at the date, time and frequency of your choice.

Once you have the results, select the elements you would like to modify and edit them. Each object type can be transformed in several ways. Again, as for any report, you can always export the results to Excel and send them to the right person inside your organisation.

Permissions Matrix Report

The permissions matrix report always helps to understand the permissions given on your sites. You can run it from the explorer section. Start by selecting your scope. Then, you can choose which users and what type of objects should be displayed in your report. The permissions matrix report allows you to get an overview of all the permissions on all the objects on your sites.

Audit Report

Finally, you might also want to report on what is going on in your environments. Keep an eye on what your users do through the audit report. First make sure that you activate the auditing on your sites. Then, when you run the audit report, pick the users, time range, and type of events you want to see.

As you can see, Sharegate helps you gain visibility on your environments by providing you with powerful reports.
